This be ur boy Everlasting Big Dawg aka EL-B-D holdin it down for
Northeast Mississippi. First known as da Local Champion when I dropped
my first album in my hometown Pontotoc, MS. I started with this music when
I was 12. Bout the only nigga in da city that was from West Pontotoc so I got
alot of heat fo that. Tupac and Biggie had the town musically swole so
freestylin became popular around da city. They tried to turn it into an East Vs
West Pontotoc battle but I didn't ever get involve in it because I felt like it
wasn't my affair. Da New York and Cali style had my city on lock. It was like
that for a while but all of a sudden it seemed like one cd changed all that
around. Once Three Six(then called Triple Six Mafia)music hit da city da
whole city turned buck all of a sudden and adapted their style. The battles
got more competitive and styles started mixing. East Pontotoc had evathang
on lock on da music tip. One day one of da West Reynolds Lords asked to
hear me flow. Since we all was West Side I was a lil comfortable so I spitted
off the dome for the first time. When I finished everybody that heard me was
shocked and they started comparing me to one of the rap Bosses on da
East Side. Word got out that I had skills so battles we set up for me. Battles
I didn't even know about lol. We had a big East Vs West battle and after it
was done my respect was there. We all had our styles and we ran with it.
After getting tossed into so many battles with neighboring counties and
cities I got heard by somebody who knew somebody. Arrangements were
made. That was my first trip to a studio. At that time I was 16 and being in a
studio was like whoa my nigga. After a few months I clicked up wit a few
friends and formed da group Thugg Passion. After a few songs the guy who
owned da studio asked me to drop my group and join his. Well I couldnt do
that so I had to leave ya know. I ran into some old peeps who cousins had a
studio. I did a few features but thats bout it. Finally I met someone from my
town with a studio. He liked my flow and we agreed on us workin together
and doin a cd. I was 19 at dat time. I dropped my intro which was hot but
after that he didnt want to work with me any more. Ya know he gave me da
cold shoulder. It was cool though. So 2 years past I meet up wit my boys
cousin and he knows my father and he had his own studio with dreams of
doin it big. He produced my first album for me which sold good around my
city ya know. Before the second one could start I guess u can say egos
clashed so I moved else where but there was and still isnt no beef. You
know just needed more room to grow. Finally when I turned 23 I decided to
stop waitin on peeps and do it myself. So I bought my own equipment and
started an indie label called Big Dawg Records. Im an artist but I neva was
good with beats. So I started a new job and I met up wit a producer who just
happened to be my cousin. He was da best beat maker I've ever heard and
since I had da hot verses before we got to our third track we had peeps that
wanted to get on da label wit us from da hood. We soon expanded and I
dropped my second album which was entitled da name giving to me by da
hood. "Da Local Champion". It sold well in da hood. So then we hooked up
wit another company and did more music. By then we were hot around da
block and we were asked to do a show in Texas which was big to all of us.
Our first show so u know it couldve been better but we did what we do ya
know. We started workin on a compilation album but before we finished it
we got big news that Bad Boy South wanted to meet wit us. I brought my
whole team which was alot and Big Dawg Records and da other groups sat
there and talked business. After the third meetin or so it seemed like we fell
apart. Peeps said we were movin to fast for them and gettin the big head
and shit before we even signed anything. So after that da agreement went
down hill and so did Big Dawg Records. I then changed up my style and we
went from like 15 to 6 in a week. I made a song expressing my feelings and
we went from 6 to 3 lol. After that my cousin moved and I had to make my
own beats so I learned. I got a lil good at it and sold some to peeps around
my hood. Im not da best but as long as I can put some fire to it Im straight. I
got contacted by the New Power Source Magazine via myspace and they put
one of my songs produced by 9 Ball featuring Capp on their mixtape. It was
an achievement to me and a few months after that my single With or Without
You got played in Macon, Ga. Fast forward to now. Big Dawg Records is my
upbringing in the music industry but Im droppin it till I get my shit right ya
feel me. So Im an unsigned artist who got what it takes. I have done a few
shows and if u can be real with me and try to help me out lets make this
money. I NEED A MANAGER or anybody that can help me out so get at me.
